Day 2 Sun Nairobi | Meals: B
It's a moving start to the day as you visit the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and learn about the care of the orphaned elephants. The Sanctuary is run by Angela Sheldrick and is set in the grounds of her late mother's, Dame Daphne Sheldrick's, house. During your visit, you have the chance to view the orphaned wildlife and meet the people who handle and care for them. Then continue to the Giraffe Center for a fun and educational encounter with the exquisite Rothschild giraffes. When the center was founded in 1979, only 120 of the Rothschild giraffe remained in Kenya - and they were on the verge of losing their "home" to a subdivision of property. Through careful breeding and reintroduction to the parks, there are about 300 Rothschild giraffes in Kenya today. In fact, you might see them again when you visit Lake Nakuru, one of the four parks in Kenya chosen to have a relocated herd.

Day 3 Mon Nairobi-Masai Mara | Meals: BLD
The Masai Mara is arguably Kenya's most famous game park. As you leave the city behind and drive past the escarpment and into the Masai Mara, you will quickly see why a trip to the Masai Mara is a must on any Kenya journey. After settling into your lodge, an afternoon game drive awaits. The Masai Mara is home to the Big Five - who were so named not because of their size, but rather their value in the days of the big hunters. Lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo are all found on the plains of the Masai Mara. The keen eyes of your driver-guide will constantly scan the plains in search of these animals and much more.
Located high on the slopes of the Oloolaimutia Hills, Masai Mara Sopa Lodge was one of the first safari lodges to be built in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, a reason why its gardens and trees are so lush and mature. All the buildings follow the design of traditional African round houses with conical roofs, and these stretch along the line of the hills with the impressively large public area buildings and the swimming pool at their center.
Accommodation
The lodge has fifty guest cottages divided into two wings to either side of the main public areas. Each of these house two spacious guest rooms with queen and king size beds; mosquito nets; electronic safes; dressing tables; en-suite bathrooms and sheltered verandas that all have views over the gardens and the game reserve beyond.
Six of the cottages each contain two suites with larger bedrooms and bathrooms, and both indoor and outdoor seating areas.
In addition to all of the above, the honeymoon suite has an extremely large, luxuriously appointed bedroom with a king size bed; dressing table and indoor seating area. Its lavishly appointed bathroom contains both a shower and a sunken bath; and its sheltered veranda offers some of the most magnificent views available over the African landscapes below.

Day 4 Tue Masai Mara | Meals: BLD
Morning and afternoon game drives are on tap today. In addition to the Big Five, the plains of the Mara might reveal scores of antelopes like the Thomson's and Grant's gazelle, impalas, elands and Coke's hartebeests. Large herds of zebra and wildebeest also dot the plains. If you are a bird-watcher, the Mara offers more than 470 species of birds. Many of the birds are migrant birds and more than 60 species are raptors. Watch for vultures, marabou storks, hornbills, crowned cranes and the dainty lilac-breasted roller, the national bird of Kenya.

Day 5 Wed Masai Mara-Lake Nakuru | Meals: BLD
Bid farewell to the Masai Mara today as your drive takes you to into the Great Rift Valley and Lake Nakuru. Lake Nakuru is one of the soda lakes in the Rift Valley and it is probably most well known for the stunning photos of hundreds of thousands - perhaps even millions - of pink flamingoes gathered on its shores and in its waters. Lake Nakuru National Park was created around Lake Nakuru and is now one of the best places to see both black rhinos and white rhinos. And, you can also see the Rothschild giraff, if you are lucky. The lake and park attract other birdlife such as the fish eagle, goliath heron the hamerkop and the verreaux eagle. Watch for all of this and more on your afternoon game drive.
Located on a range of hills that form the western limits of Africa's Great Rift Valley, the newest member of the Sopa family, Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge, offers spectacular views over the vastness of Kenya. Overlooking Lake Nakuru and its surrounding National Park, it is a paradise for bird watchers and wildlife lovers alike. Each room has a balcony, as well as mini-bar, hair dryer and WIFI.
